Forklift Safety
Powered industrial trucks, commonly called forklifts or lift trucks, are used to carry, lift or stack heavy loads. They save labour and time, but they can also be dangerous. The cause of most forklift accidents is operator error, so ensuring your workers are trained on the safe operation of this important piece of equipment is crucial for a safe work environment.
Forklift Safety: Basics and Best Practices and Training for Powered Industrial Trucks helps create awareness and respect for the hazards associated with operating a forklift. Topics include:
  • What to know before operating a forklift, including performing a two-step, pre-use inspection.
  • Keeping forklifts stable and avoiding tip-overs, the primary cause of forklift fatalities.
  • Best operating practices such as assessing the work area prior to engaging in lifting tasks, safely entering and exiting the forklift, manoeuvring safely through a variety of conditions and best practices for lifting and moving loads.
